Meet the people who make it happen

We leverage a wide range of specialist service providers in designing and delivering our solutions, but at the core of it is the SCA team. Passionate about people, committed to excellence, driven to deliver.

Jeannie Harning

Director

Following the completion of her undergrad studies at San Francisco State University, Jeannie’s return to SA saw her completing her Masters at Rhodes followed by a position as election monitor trainer for the Independent Electoral Commission during South Africa’s first democratic election. She spent the next years working in the US and UK in various positions in market research, project management and emergency dispatch services.  A move to the Eastern Cape saw her taking up a position at Deloitte Human Capital Corporation as HR Consultant specialising in learning & development, facilitation as well as pay and reward consulting.  Her promotion to Manager at their Johannesburg branch rounded off her generalist HR experience with a year in the Benchmarking Division.

A desire to have her own business that combines big-outfit outcomes with small-outfit flexibility and affordability, led to her joining forces with Natalie in establishing Solutions Connect Africa.

I enjoy…

What I do as it affords me the ability to continuously learn new things, meet new people, solve business problems, and empower those around me.

I believe that…

Innovation is about adding value. A seemingly small idea can form the basis of great change within an organisation and its people.

My downtime is…

Spent travelling extensively, tasting copious amounts of wine, eating exotic foods and generally living my life to the fullest.

Natalie Van Wulven

Director

Natalie started her career in the hospitality industry in sports management. From there, she joined FSA-Contact, working variously as Workshop Co-ordinator, Sales Consultant, Senior Consultant and finally Business Development Manager, gaining invaluable general human resource exposure in the process. In 1999 she relocated to Port Elizabeth to establish their Eastern Cape operation as branch manager. Following Deloitte’s acquisition of FSA-Contact, Natalie was appointed Regional Executive for Deloitte Human Capital Corporation Eastern Cape and ran the operation for four years.

A 2-year break as freelance human resource and training specialist saw her teaming up with Jeannie in 2009 to establish Solutions Connect Africa, a company dedicated to offering bespoke specialised human resource training, development and consulting services to the  South African and African industry.

I am proud that…

Clients that I had at FSA-Contact, are still clients of mine today. I believe that our business is all about building long-term relationships and in some cases clients have become part of our Solutions Connect family.

I hope to…

Create a company that allows staff to grow and go onto greater things like I did.

My downtime is…

Filled with my fur kids from five rescue shelters, long beach walks, exhausting mountain hikes, family, friends and wine, of course.

Sandra Horn

Director

A love for people and ability to connect with them has been the central theme of Sandra’s life journey. It started way back in high school when she spent weekends and holidays working in local Betty’s Bay cafés. Upon leaving school Sandra joined the Navy as communications operator. Her organisational abilities soon saw her moving into the administrative side of personnel management and departmental compliance.

Following a brief break to farm, Sandra was once again drawn to people, holding various positions in the hospitality industry before she joined Solutions Connect Africa in 2014. Her strong office management background led to her establishing Small Business Solutions along with fellow director, Natalie van Wulven, in 2017. Sandra was promoted to director of this division in August 2018.

I enjoy…

Spending time with my kids, both the two-legged ones and the four-legged furry ones. I’m not entirely sure which are naughtiest.

I am grateful for…

All the hardships that have come my way. I wouldn’t be where I am or who I am without it. I’ve learnt that honesty and accountability are immeasurably important – in everything one does.

My downtime is…

Spent being a proud homebody. I bake and cook up a storm with the odd glass of wine thrown in. I also recently discovered the joys of a quaint, almost-forgotten skill – crocheting!
